In-House Versus 3rd Party Affiliate Program Tracking
Have you noticed that many affiliate programs have more than one affiliate network promoting it? Let's say; for example, that a web site called 'Widget Works' sells widgets to consumers. 'Widget Works' has its own affiliate program so affiliates can join them directly. This is called an 'in-house' affiliate program. Yet 'Widget Works' also partners with other affiliate networks, which are referred to as a '3rd party'. So, should you join 'Widget Works' directly through their 'in-house' program, or promote their widgets through a 3rd party network?
Often you'll get better results by promoting 'Widget Works' through a 3rd party network, and not directly through 'Widget Works'.
Why?
'In-house' affiliate programs (directly through the advertiser), focus mainly on getting traffic, leads and sales, but often do not ensure affiliates are rewarded commissions. A 3rd party network like Pulsar Marketing; however, doesn't earn revenue unless its affiliates generate leads and sales. Thus, a 3rd party network is dedicated to ensuring tracking integrity of leads and sales, and to make sure its affiliates are properly credited for their efforts. 3rd party networks are often like 'watch dogs' that keep advertisers in-check.
By using a 3rd party network, you can also benefit by the dual tracking. 3rd party networks also have access to the statistical reporting generated by the advertiser, as well as its own tracking reports. 3rd party networks like Pulsar Marketing closely analyze these two channels to detect any possible lapses in tracking, due to such factors as temporary software outages by the 'in-house' network, which would otherwise have prevented you from earning commissions if you had promoted their product/service directly.
3rd party networks are also able to offer affiliates higher commission rates. As part of their agreement to assist an 'in-house' affiliate program, 3rd party networks negotiate for a payout rate higher than what the 'in-house' network offers its internal affiliates, so they can reward their affiliates a higher commission.
Additionally, the affiliate support of a 3rd party network is often far superior, because the in-house network is pre-occupied with fulfilling the support needs of customers - not the support needs of affiliates.
In Summary: 3rd Party Affiliate Networks are better because: a) They are affiliate focused; not customer focused b) They offer enhanced tracking reliability c) They offer higher commission rates c) They earn revenue only if their affiliates earn revenue, and they monitor to ensure their affiliates are credited
When given the choice of promoting an affiliate program either directly through the advertiser (in-house) or through a 3rd party network, more often than not you'll enjoy greater rewards for your hard work by using a 3rd party network.
To better ensure you are awarded commissions for your hard work, choose a 3rd party affiliate network that only gets paid when its affiliates are paid commissions (like Pulsar Marketing).
3rd party networks like Pulsar Marketing do not charge advertisers a setup fee, nor a monthly fee, hence they only get paid when their affiliates are credited with commissions. Pulsar Marketing's tracking software and staff who are dedicated to monitoring advertisers and activity work equally hard to ensure its affiliates are properly credited with commissions so we, too, can earn revenue.
